DASAKI ACHNA

The original village of Achna lies north of the buffer zone in Norther Cyprus. Following the invasion in 1974 the village was completely deserted. The inhabitants of the village fled and set up a provisional tent village in the forest area, calling it Dasaki Achna.
The new village of Dasaki Achna, as we know it today, is a thriving village in the red soil area of Cyprus. The village has a large football stadium, built in 1997, which is home to local football club, Ethnikos Achnas. The Achna dam is a popular bird spotting area and was built in 1988 to provide water for storage, irrigation and emergency supplies to the area.
