


Gavirate: Historic residence in Gavirate with lake view on Lago di Varese

The unique residence was designed and built between 1890 and 1892 by the famous architect Michele Cairati on behalf of Baron Baumann. Cairati was significantly involved in many of the most prestigious villas in Lombardy from that period.
In the Lombard style, the interiors and the external portico are decorated with frescoes by the painter Luigi Spreafico di Galbiate. The wooden coffered ceilings with decorations in colors with gilding. The plan of this villa is irregular with a square tower at the south-west corner. The roof of the villa is entirely covered with slates from Valmalenco. The exterior decorations are in stone by the sculptor Pietro Benaglio, as is the important stone fireplace in the library.
The villa has four floors for a total area of about 2800 square meters, divided as follows:
